The BHS JV Red baseball team held off a late Granbury rally to preserve a 5-5 tie in Monday night’s District 9-5A opener in Granbury.
P Kain Rodriguez forced a bases-loaded ground ball to SS/P Jacob Amador, who flipped the ball to IF Evan Jameson for the force-out at second base, in the bottom of the 5th inning to keep the Pirates from winning the game outright. The 1-hour 50-minute time limit expired during the bottom of the 5th, causing the game to end in a tie.
Amador led the way at the plate for the Elks, going 1-2 with two RBI. His 1-out sacrifice fly in the top of the 5th scored Evan Jameson, and proved to be the final scoring play of the evening. OF Preston Majerus was also 1-2 with a big two-out RBI single in the 3rd inning.
With the tie, the JV Red is now 7-5-1 on the season, and 0-0-1 in District 9-5A. The Elks return to action Saturday, March 18th, with a doubleheader at Joshua. First pitch for Game One is scheduled for 10:00 AM at Glen Holley Memorial Park, located on the campus of Joshua High School.
