The BHS JV Black baseball team opened District 9-5A play with a bang Monday evening, posting a 15-2 5-inning run-rule victory over the Granbury Pirates at Tidwell Field in Granbury.
Every member of the starting lineup reached base at least once. The first four Elks reached via base hit, helping stake the club to a 4-0 lead before an out was recorded. 2B/OF Dylan Lane was 3-3 with a triple, an RBI, two runs scored, and a walk. Hallack and IF/P T.J. Pound each chipped in with three RBI. 1B Blake Metts had two RBI.
McCallum (1-1) went the distance on the mound for his first JV Black win of the season. He allowed just two earned runs on five hits, and struck out seven. Pound and IF/OF/P Tristan Roland helped the cause with several nice plays at third base.
With the win, the JV Black is now 8-1 on the season, and 1-0 in District 9-5A play. The team returns to action Saturday, March 18th, against the Joshua Owls. A doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM at Elk Stadium in Burleson.
