The Burleson Elks Varsity baseball team clinched its 1st playoff berth in three years after shutting out the Crowley Eagles 6-0 Friday night in Crowley.
Junior P Kayden Cassidy was dominant, allowing just two hits and striking out seven Eagles in a complete game, shutout effort. Cassidy is now 4-4 on the season with a 2.01 ERA; he’s 3-3 in District 9-5A play.
A balanced attack offensively led the Elks to their six runs. Senior 1B Parker Shaha was 2-4 with a home run, a run scored, and two RBI. Cassidy contributed a 3-4 effort with a double, a triple, and two runs scored. Senior DH Christian Hallack chipped in two hits, including a double, in four at-bats; he also drove in two.
The win ups the Elks’ record to 17-12 on the season. In District 9-5A play, BHS finished with a 9-5 record, good enough for 3rd place. Granbury is also 9-5, meaning the two teams will play a seeding playoff game to determine the 3rd and 4th seeds. This page will be updated when game information is finalized.
The playoff seeding game between Burleson and Granbury has been tentatively scheduled for Saturday, April 29th, at 10:00 AM at North Crowley High School. Possible inclement weather could delay the game until Monday.
District 9-5A passes will be accepted. The Elks will be the home team occupy the 1st base dugout.
