Multiple Teams · Varsity Baseball Beats Granbury, Claims #3 Seed In District 9-5A

The Burleson Elks Varsity baseball team beat the Granbury Pirates 9-6 Saturday afternoon at North Crowley High School, claiming the District 9-5A #3 seed in the process.

Senior OF Logan Hammit had a career-best three doubles in three at-bats. He also drove in two runs, and scored three. Senior OF Parker Shaha hit his second home run in as many night, a two-run, line-drive shot to left field; he finished with two RBI and a run scored. Freshman 2B/P Blake Myers hit a triple to right-center field in his only at bat, and scored on a passed ball.

Junior P Hayden Alexander started on the mound for the Elks and pitched 4+ innings, allowing just two earned runs; he struck out two and walked none. He picked up the win, his second of the season. A couple of freshmen finished it for the BHS, as Isaiah Smith relieved Alexander and threw 1 1/3 innings, striking out four. Blake Myers pitched the last 1 2/3 innings to notch the first save of his career. He allowed two hits and struck out one.

The Elks are now 17-12 on the season, and 10-5 in District 9-5A play. The opponent, dates, times, and locations for the Bi-District playoff will be posted to burlesonathletics.com shortly.
