Lady Elks power through tough first 30 minutes of match scoreless at half-time despite several set pieces, break aways and chances on frame. Stepping back out onto the pitch second half with a quick adjustment in formation to create opportunity for offense to get something going uptop. Attacking unit breaks open several opportunities on frame, but unable to get one in the back of the net. Faith Strube’s continous pursuit for a chance to score finally paid off with 6 minutes left in the half to pull the Lady Elks ahead 1-0.
Grand Prairie would put in the equalizer with less than a minute on the clock, after a hard battle second half by the Lady Elks to turn the rhythm of the game back in their favor. A 4-5 penalty tie breaker leaves the Lady Elks second in their tournament pool.
Junior Adriana Zaragoza (Capt.) put on an exhibtion of how to execute the role of a defensive midfielder for the Elks. A rock solid performance that deserves recognition for helping keep hopes for advancement alive for her teammates. A very young Lady Elks squad faces first learning curve of the season in tactical play. Solid team performance in second half effort to rally.
